ICT in education individual exercises 4

Our community is called Computer sciences and digital competencies (Schools). It is a virtual learning community about the topic schools and their educational systems.

For this community we have chosen Microsot Teams. Microsoft Teams offers not only online video calls, but you can also use it to create documents where pupils can communicate with eachother and work with eachother. It is used for different organisations and is widely used for educational purp oses. Because there are a lot of different possibilities it is more effective then other platforms. Pupils can even post pictures and emojis! 

We have chosen this form of social network platform, because it is already used widely during the pandemic. It has a lot of supervising aspects for teachers. If there are people who are cyber-bullying other pupils, it will be easy for the teacher to interfere. We are planning to use this platform for primary schools. In Steven`s experience at his internships in The Netherlands, he has experienced that it is generally easy to use for the pupils from ages 9 till 13.  

It is important that the teacher can supervise what is posted on the community. As a community leader, the teacher can post certain, links, videos, documents, PowerPoints or even Excels. The variety of possibilites on this platform, is really usefull to let pupils collaberate in seperate break out rooms, where teachers can check and follow what is happening in each of them. As a teacher you can choose what kind of applications are available for the pupils. So if you want them to use PowerPoint you can make it available for them. It is available through browser and by using the application itself.  

In my opinion, using communities and digital resources in an educational level could be very helpfull and productive. It allows teachers and students to be communicated almost everytime, in order to infom about something, or to ask doubts, etc. It also help the kids to keep track of classes in case that they were missing, and it is an excellent resource for sending homework or projects.
